Drone Delivery: AL DRONES achieves the first BVLOS approval for experimental flights in Brazil, for SPEEDBIRD AERO Company.

In July 2019, SPEEDBIRD AERO, pioneer in Brazilian Drone Delivery, and AL DRONES, expert Company in Design & Certification of UAS, have established the agreement that allowed to obtain the first BVLOS approval for Drone Delivery in Brazil. The approved aircraft model (DLV-1) has received its Experimental Certificate (CAVE) issued by ANAC (Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency) in August 5th, 2020.

There is a long process for ensuring Ground & Air Safety, in order to make Drone Delivery a safe technology. The Drone package delivery is feasible only if operation is conducted in a safe manner, considering manned aircraft flying in nearby Airspace and people on the ground. During the process for approving the first BVLOS Drone Delivery in Brazil, AL DRONES has taken the Aviation Philosophy into the Drone sector. The objective is to bring technology and best practices from aviation to delivery remote aircraft.

SPEEDBIRD AERO and AL DRONES have faced 1 year of constant Flight Testing and development in order to achieve ANAC BVLOS approval, demonstrating the great milestone to UAS sector.

The foodtech company, iFood, was the financer for the initiative, investing in the promising BVLOS UAS Delivery. The air transport of packages will operate as a complement to ground transportation, such as vehicles already used by iFood. Ground and Flight Safety are the top priority in this BVLOS UAS project. For that reason, iFood has established the partnership with SPEEDBIRD AERO and AL DRONES, the companies that currently conduct the largest initiative in the UAS sector.

With the advance of unmanned aerial logistics, the perspectives for package delivery open a wide range of opportunities for industry and commerce. In that context, Drones follow the tendency for integration into Airspace and Smart Cities context. The economy in delivery time, lower CO2 emissions and traffic optimization are only a few of the benefits from this innovating UAS sector.
